Stamford Meeting Hall

Building in Harmony with the Community

Project Outline

The property at 2517 Long Ridge Road, Stamford, CT (Town Parcel Map 001-3577) is a long-neglected former tennis club that has remained unsold for years, becoming an overgrown eyesore with no economic value to the neighborhood.

We propose to redevelop this site into the Stamford Meeting Hall, a church. This project will revitalize and beautify the property while reducing the overall site coverage.

Economic Benefits

This development will deliver a substantial positive economic impact for the Stamford area and surrounding communities.

Our congregants are committed to “buying local” and supporting communities and businesses through the planning, construction, and operation of the church.

A number of our members operate their own businesses and employ many people from the Southern Connecticut community. We buy houses, shop locally, pay taxes and generously contribute financially to numerous charities and many worthy causes.

For construction, we prioritize local contractors, materials, and providers when possible. The same applies to ongoing property maintenance.

About Stamford Meeting Hall

Our congregation, with about 100 members in Stamford, has been part of this community since 1917. For generations, we have lived, worked, and contributed here, and we are now planning a new church that will provide a safe space for families and allow us to give back to the community we cherish.

As peaceful and respectful neighbors, we are dedicated to driving the local economy and supporting the well-being of our city. Known as caring and compassionate family people, we share the faith and values held by all true Christians. Giving back is central to who we are, and we are passionate about volunteering and supporting charitable causes.

We look forward to introducing ourselves to the larger North Stamford community, connecting with neighbors, and addressing questions about our plans. Our congregation is committed to being good neighbors and citizens, and we are truly excited about building our new home on Long Ridge Road as members of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church.

Our Local Charitable Work

Over the past decade, our congregation has actively supported the Stamford community through volunteer efforts and financial contributions. From organizing charity walks and participating in emergency drills to providing food donations and assisting families during times of tragedy, we have consistently invested in the well-being of the local community we call home.

This commitment reflects our belief in the importance of community service, active citizenship, and compassionate action. We are dedicated to being a positive force in Stamford, working alongside local organizations and neighbors to offer meaningful support where it’s needed most.

2025: Los Angeles Fires

Our Church members in Fairfield County and Stamford deeply appreciate the efforts of the Rapid Relief Team volunteers who mobilized to support emergency responders and communities impacted by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles.

Dozens of RRT volunteers drawn from nine states and two Canadian provinces distributed 7,000 fresh meals and 700 frontline snack packs with a variety of supplies, fueled by 2,700 total volunteer hours.

Their hard work and ongoing caring and compassion for those in need, wherever they may be, is inspiring.

2024: Stamford Fire Dept Regional
Tanker Drill

In October, the Stamford Fire Department, along with neighboring fire departments and volunteer units, conducted a large-scale tanker drill which simulated a fire response in a remote area without hydrant access, testing the capabilities of various fire stations to coordinate and manage such an event.

Seven RRT volunteers supplied bottled water, Snack Packs, and hot coffee to around 60 participants on a crisp, windy autumn night. This collaborative drill helped build preparedness and provide essential training for first responders in handling large-scale emergencies under challenging conditions.

2024: Westport Walk To Defeat ALS

RRT has supported the annual Walk to Defeat ALS events in Connecticut for years. For the 2024 iteration, volunteers handed out 200 water bottles to participants at the Walk, located on Sherwood Island.

One official said, “Thank you for your support year after year. The team was awesome, and the weather was gorgeous.”

2024: City of Stamford Family Day

Ten RRT volunteers provided more than 380 meals during the 19th Annual Family Day at the Yerwood Center in Stamford’s West Side.

City departments and other organizations were able to offer their services and resources to citizens throughout the community, from unhoused individuals to paramedics at the end of a 26-hour shift.

2023: CT DEMHS Region 2 Field Day

The DEMHS regional emergency management team hosted a field day to share resources with personnel from across Region 2. Mutual aid is critical when disaster strikes, so knowing what assets are available to support our communities is ever important for those who selflessly help us.

RRT volunteers were happy once again to support this event by providing refreshments and 100+ meals.
